Oak Glen Farm
Our Little Fiber Flock
In the spring of 2008  our family of 7 moved to a 13 acre farm near Holstein, Ontario and in October of the same year we purchased Sammy, Marina and Georgia, three border leicester/corriedale/romney crossbred ewe lambs.  We have been slowly growing since, adding a purebred, brown/grey border leicester ram, Mike.  In 2009 we tried adding three purebred Cotswold ewes to the flock but some health issues came up and now we have just Wendy.  She is the ewe on the right in the photo above. The donkey on her home farm took that little nick out of her right ear so she is easy to spot in a crowd.
This year we will be adding Tanner, a Canadian Polwarth crossed ram, from Shirley Browsky's flock.
Our goal is to produce fine, long, lustrous fibre that is white and coloured and is available as fleece, rovings or yarn.

This is me practicing my spinning.  I am working on my second semester of the OHS Master Spinner Course through Sir Sandford Flemming College in Haliburton.  That looks a little too "worsted" to be my first semester homework so it must be a some sock yarn that I had on the go last winter.
